Hollis Public Schools Recognizes Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year Recipients
Earning the title of 2023-2024 Support Person of the Year was Mrs. Elizabeth Irvin. Mrs. Irvin graduated from Eldorado High School in 2007. She continued her education to become a Licensed Professional Nurse through Southwest Technology Center. Then, Elizabeth earned an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Science and recently graduated from the Western Oklahoma State College Registered Nursing Program. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education. Elizabeth Irvin joined Hollis Public Schools in 2021 as the first ever full time school nurse. Under her leadership, school health care has transformed to better serve students, staff and parents. Elizabeth assists with daily health needs, responds to emergencies, tracks immunization records, organizes health education programs, implements medical plans and so much more. Prior to joining the school system Mrs. Irvin worked for Harmon County Home Health from 2017 to 2019. In addition, she has been employed by Colonial Manor Nursing Home since 2013 and still fills on a regular basis. Elizabeth and her husband Tim have been married for seven years. Two sons, Easton, a 7th grader and Dallon, a first grader attend Hollis Public schools. Elizabeth says that she is excited and beyond grateful to be part of the school district, as it fulfills her three passions in life—Children, Education and Nursing.
Hollis Public Schools extended congratulation to this remarkable employee, in admiration for all that she does- Mrs. Elizabeth Irvin; Hollis Public Schools Support Person of the Year received a commemorative plaque from Supt. Jennifer McQueen, with school administrators from both campuses extending congratulations. Elizabeth Irvin will represents Hollis Public Schools as THE BRAND of support services for 2023-2024 school year.
Hollis Public Schools Teacher of the Year J’Cinda Stripling was presented to the school and community the same evening. J’Cinda is a 2001 graduate of Hollis High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2006 and a Reading Specialist Master’s Degree in 2012.
Mrs. Stripling’s teaching certifications include early childhood education, mild/moderate/severe/profound special education and reading interventions. She is CPI certified in nonviolent crisis intervention strategies and Orton Gillingham certified in the treatment of dyslexia. Mrs. Stripling worked as a Middle School teacher in Mangum her first year in special education. Since then she has devoted countless hours, compassion, patience and the highest level of expertise to Hollis Public Schools. This is Mrs. Stripling’s seventeenth year with the district. She is mentor and team leader for all elementary special education programs. J’Cinda Stripling received the prestigious Professional Oklahoma Educators Special Education Merit Award in 2012.
In attendance for the recognition with J’Cinda were her special guests- husband Shayne, owner of Shayne’s Auto & Diesel and daughter Peyton, a junior at Hollis High, busy attending school, Vo-Tech and taking college classes. Also, son Jaxon a mighty and courageous 8th grader was supporting his mom along with little sister Leiton, a feisty three year old.
On behalf of Mrs. Stripling’s colleagues and Hollis Public Schools J’Cinda received her Teacher of the Year plaque from elementary principal Amy Estes as congratulations were extended by Supt. McQueen and Secondary Administrators Kimi Copeland. and Rick Skorepa. J’Cinda Stripling will represent THE BRAND this year and join an elite group of Hollis Public Schools Teachers of the Year with her name added to the Wall of Honor.
